The Head of Procurement / Purchasing Manager will be primarily responsible for the company’s supplier base / performance and purchasing systems. Working closely with all facets of the business the Head of Procurement / Purchasing Manager will be expected to achieve cost reduction, improved supplier relationships and lead times.

  • Implementation of purchase strategy & monitoring of supplier related KPI’s for the manufacturing site
  • Take a leading role in managing a culture change regarding negotiating and cost-down exercises
  • Evaluate & establish new suppliers according to the companies purchase strategy and in conjunction with the engineering resource for the site

  • Responsibility for all commercial aspects of the specification, negotiate with suppliers and establish a contract to supply against the required specification
  • Co-ordinate all cost down activities through to end of life
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain department, the role will identify suppliers as bid partners in supporting the quoting process for increasingly complex purchased components, modules & assemblies

The ideal Head of Procurement / Purchasing Manager should be CIPS qualified with a proven track record of effective purchasing and have the ability to deal with people at all levels of the company, supply base & customer base;

  • Highly organised with an ability to set standards for self & others whilst being a team player with a high degree of initiative & pro-active
  • Experience of developing a multi-skilled team of Purchasing professionals
  • Relevant purchasing experience gained in a manufacturing environment, as well as “Hands on” experience of a MRP system and relevant commodity experience (plastics / metals)
  • Experience of reporting, data analysis & accurate delivery of information for action (Word, Access & Excel)
  • Achieve cost reduction and implement strategic sourcing

Ideally the Head of Procurement / Purchasing Manager will have developed your purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, dealing with low cost economies in a Global market.

Salary : Circa £50-60,000 + benefits, depending on skills and experience
