OK, now that I have your attention, please have a look at the detail below and decide if you’ve got what it takes to join a club steeped in history, with a typically loyal fan base and currently in the middle of some major development….a great time to be joining for sure!

As Retail and Merchandising Manager you will be joining the clubs senior management team and as such you’ll assume a fair degree of daily responsibility;

Two stores, (1 stadium megastore and a city centre shop) all the online retail sales function and approximately 16 permanent staff members. You’ll need the skills and experience to achieve maximum profitability through the effective control of costs, stock management, analysing and interpreting retail data and negotiating with suppliers to obtain suitable line for sale at the best possible prices.

In more detail;

  • Oversee the daily management of the two retail stores, online and mail order sales function and warehouse facility
  • Manage a team of retail staff and management who are sales and customer focused and are all working together to achieve retail sales, budgets and targets.
  • Set weekly sales targets for stores and on line store.
  • Ensure that all retail operations deliver excellent standards in customer service, and Health & Safety
  • To select a comprehensive range of good quality, competitively priced official merchandise that offers supporters a wide selection of choice.
  • To assist the Head of Commercial Affairs in managing the kit supplier account and ensure that all the replica kits, training and Match day wear are of the highest quality and design available.
  • Supporting the Head of Commercial Affairs liaise with the Kit Manager and the Club Secretary to ensure the needs of the football department, with regards to kit requirements, are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of all stock movement within the department, and provide reports to the finance department as and when required
  • Maintain and control stock levels to ensure maximum sales and minimum price reductions and write offs.
  • Effectively use and develop the EPOS system in conjunction with the EPOS provider to produce a robust reporting mechanism.
  • Provide the Head of Commercial Affairs with sales trends, sales analysis and charts through monthly reporting
  • Analyse and interpret sales figures, forecast future sales volumes and trends to maximise profits

Candidate Profile;

It’s very simple; you’ll either be currently doing the same job with in sport and leisure sector (any sport, doesn’t have to be football) or, you’ll be a high street heavy weight. Either way you’ll be at the top of your game, hungry for a challenge bursting with ideas and keen to make a real name for yourself!
