Reporting into the Senior Management team, the Senior Buyer will be primarily responsible for the company’s supplier base / performance and purchasing systems. Working closely with all facts of the business the Senior Buyer will be expected to achieve cost reduction, improved supplier relationships and lead times.

This role offers great progression opportunity. Ideally the Senior Buyer will be promoted to Purchasing Manager within 6-12 months of joining the business.

•    Implementation of purchase strategy & monitoring of supplier related KPI’s for the manufacturing site
•    Evaluate & establish new suppliers according to the companies purchase strategy and in conjunction with the engineering resource for the site
•    Responsibility for all commercial aspects of the specification, negotiate with suppliers and establish a contract to supply against the required specification.
•    Co-ordinate all cost down activities through to end of life
•    Working closely with the Supply Chain department, the role will identify suppliers as bid partners in supporting the quoting process for increasingly complex purchased components, modules & assemblies

The ideal Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager should be CIPS qualified with a proven track record of effective purchasing and have the ability to deal with people at all levels of the company, supply base & customer base;

•    Highly organised with an ability to set standards for self & others whilst being a team player with a high degree of initiative & pro-active
•    Relevant purchasing experience gained in a manufacturing environment, as well as “Hands on” experience of a MRP system and relevant commodity experience
•    Experience of reporting, data analysis & accurate delivery of information for action (Word, Access & Excel)
•    Achieve cost reduction and implement strategic sourcing

Ideally the Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager will have developed your purchasing experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, although Purchasing professionals from a FMCG may be considered due to the fast passed, pressurized nature of the role.

Salary : Circa £42,000 dependant on skill and experience
