Working in a modern and progressive production facility with an experienced team of engineers and technicians, this challenging role will require excellent communication skills and the ability to recognise and implement opportunities for improvement and progression in all areas of our business.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Company’s quality management system and will have the authority to ensure conformance of standards and processes. Supporting functions in all areas of quality control and working with both production and sales/projects teams it will involve promoting effective quality control by encouraging employees to engage in effective continual improvement processes.

 

This position encompasses all aspects of quality control in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, including the implementation and maintenance of quality control processes to fulfil customer and company needs.

The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge and experience of current health and safety legislation and assist with all aspects of health and safety in the workplace.

 

Main duties will include:

  • Ensure compliance with the company’s QMS
  • Establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality awareness throughout all departments
  • Prepare for and represent the company during external audits
  • Improve productivity and efficiencies through process evaluation and increasing quality control awareness
  • Conduct new product testing in preparation for final certification to required standards
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the products and the environment; through training, colleague engagement and work instructions
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers on all quality, conformance and warranty matters
  • Maintain the corrective action, preventive action data base (CAPA)
  • Perform continual quality checks in all areas on a daily basis by planned and random sampling
  • Establish control systems and procedures to meet standards of performance, quality and safety
  • Implement training programmes to raise awareness in relation to quality control
  • Investigate problems, customer complaints, analyse root causes and derive resolutions
  • Train personnel to perform quality checks safely and efficiently
  • Monitor and mentor team members to improve their skills and efficiencies in quality control
  • Help maintain 5’S methodology and lean manufacturing
  • Manage internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001-2015
  • Prepare first article inspections and finished product inspections
  • Ensure traceability of raw material and products
  • Prepare QA reports and periodic report on risks and opportunities in quality functions and processes
  • Assist with Health and Safety matters

 

Knowledge and Skills required for the role:

  • ISO 9001-2015 QMS Lead Auditor trained
  • Qualifications in Quality Assurance and possibly Mechanical/Production Engineering
  • Previous experience in a Production Engineering environment and in a Quality/Inspection role
  • Experience of ERP business management software and databases would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and protocol
  • Capable of making independent decisions; whilst being appreciative of department managers and existing protocols
  • Must be able to show a good practical use of measuring equipment and measuring techniques

  • Excellent computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook and Access
